All I want for my birthday is...

...for Africa's big cats to live wild, free and in peace

Today is my birthday and the first thing I saw on Facebook today was this (warning, graphic images - but happy outcome). For those not willing to click on the link its photos of a lion who had been speared in the eye by local farmers in Kenya. This is not an uncommon thing. Lions, leopards and cheetahs often pay the price with their life, just for existing! They can be killed as retaliation for them taking livestock as an easy meal, or they can be killed for no reason, just for being in the same area as livestock as a preventative. Not okay. Not okay at all. And sadly the bigger the human population gets, the bigger this problem gets...

FYI the lion in the link was treated by vets and he not only survived but also kept his eye! He is one of the lucky ones.

People sometimes feel helpless but there IS something you can do. We have set up 3 important projects that each focus on reducing human-wildlife conflict for lions, leopards and cheetahs. Click here to read more about those projects and contribute to them.

We're also big believers in giving people something for their money which is why we created our Big Cat Art Calendar! Who wouldn't want a stunning new artwork of a lion, leopard or cheetah on their wall each month?! They make the perfect Christmas gift too. BUT they have been selling like hotcakes and we only have 10 left!!! If you've been planning on buying one I highly recommend doing it NOW. Click here to get your calendar - a reminder that all proceeds go to our 3 projects in Africa. We also have other goodies for sale, click here to shop or donate.

So, what's the best way to wish me a happy birthday? Help out the 3 big cats of Africa! But do it for them, not for me ;)
